St. Petersburg · Greater Tampa Bay

Sharp thinking for pain that hasn't listened to anything else.

Agudo Shockwave is a physical-therapy-led practice using targeted shockwave therapy for chronic tendon, heel, and joint pain in active adults. Every plan starts with a hands-on PT assessment — never a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Your first visit — the Omniwave Strategy Session — is about 60 minutes. Prefer to talk first? Book a free 10-minute discovery call online.

Who we help

You've rested it, iced it, stretched it — and it still shows up on mile three.

Chronic tendon pain rarely responds to rest alone. Tissue that has been irritated for months often needs a stimulus to restart healing, plus a loading plan that rebuilds capacity. That combination — targeted shockwave inside a real rehab plan — is what we do.

  • Pain that has lasted more than six weeks and keeps returning
  • Runners, lifters, golfers, tennis and pickleball players, and people on their feet all day
  • Anyone told to “just rest” with no plan for getting back to load
  • People weighing injections or surgery who want a non-invasive step first

How it works

Shockwave therapy, explained without the jargon

Shockwave therapy — clinically, extracorporeal shockwave therapy — sends high-energy sound waves through the skin into a specific area of tissue. No needles, no incisions, no medication. Think of it as a mechanical nudge that tells stalled tissue to start repairing again.

1. Acoustic pulses reach the tissue

Your therapist uses a handheld Omniwave® applicator with gel to deliver rapid pressure waves a few centimeters below the surface, right where the painful tendon or fascia lives.

2. The body responds

Those pulses stimulate local blood flow, cellular activity, and the remodeling process that chronic tendon problems often lose over time.

3. Loading rebuilds capacity

Shockwave opens a window; progressive exercise is what turns it into durable strength. That's why a therapist, not a machine, runs your plan.

This short video from Agudo Shockwave explains the technology and what happens when an Omniwave® applicator delivers pressure waves to the treatment area.

We treat with the Omniwave® shockwave system. Shockwave therapy is a treatment tool, not a cure-all. Suitability, dosage, and expected timelines are always determined during your physical therapy assessment.

Conditions treated

Common problems we assess for shockwave

Most of our patients arrive with chronic, load-related orthopedic pain. Don't see your issue? Ask — the assessment tells us whether shockwave belongs in your plan at all.

Plantar fasciitis & heel pain

Morning heel stabs that never fully settle, even after months of stretching.

Achilles tendinopathy

Thickened, stiff tendon that flares after runs, hills, or long days.

Patellar & quad tendon pain

Jumper's knee that limits squats, stairs, and change of direction.

Gluteal & hip tendinopathy

Lateral hip pain with side-lying, walking, or single-leg loading.

Tennis & golfer's elbow

Grip pain that lingers long after the brace and rest stopped helping.

Rotator cuff tendinopathy

Overhead pain and weakness in lifting, swimming, or racquet sports.

Shin splints & calf strain

Recurring lower-leg load pain that returns each training block.

Scar tissue & trigger points

Chronically tight, sensitive tissue that resists manual therapy alone.

Assessment first, always

A physical therapist decides the plan — not a protocol

Shockwave without a diagnosis is a guess. We start by understanding why the tissue is irritated, then build care around it.

  1. 01Physical therapy assessment

Your first visit — the Omniwave Strategy Session — runs about 60 minutes: history, movement screening, strength and load testing, and a clear explanation of what we find.

  2. 02Personalized plan

You leave with a written plan — how many shockwave sessions we expect, what we're loading, and how we'll measure change session to session.

  3. 03Targeted shockwave sessions

Focused acoustic pulses are applied to the specific tissue we identified. Follow-up treatment sessions take 20–30 minutes, and no anesthesia is needed.

  4. 04Load, educate, progress

Care may include self-care strategies, corrective exercise, education, and manual therapy so the tissue can tolerate what your life demands.

What patients value

Advanced therapy, better results, personalized healing

We can't promise a specific outcome — no honest clinic can. What we can promise is a clear assessment, a plan you understand, and objective markers we track together.

Short, focused visits

Your initial Omniwave Strategy Session is about 60 minutes; follow-up treatment sessions run 20–30 minutes, so visits fit around real schedules.

Non-surgical, no injections

Shockwave is a non-invasive, drug-free option often considered when rest, stretching, and general rehab haven't been enough.

Built to keep you moving

Plans are designed for active adults, so we work around your training rather than asking you to shut everything down.

Measured, not guessed

We re-test the same objective markers each visit so you can see whether the plan is working — and change it early if it isn't.

Individual results vary based on diagnosis, symptom duration, general health, and adherence to your plan. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of any particular result, and shockwave therapy is not appropriate for every person or every condition.

Service area

Shockwave therapy for St. Petersburg and Greater Tampa Bay

Agudo Shockwave serves an active, year-round-outdoors community. Our patients run the Pinellas Trail, cycle the Skyway, play pickleball in Gulfport, swim and paddle the bay, chase PRs at local gyms, and work long shifts on hard floors. Warm-weather training never really stops here — so overuse tendon problems rarely get the extended rest that generic advice assumes.

Our St. Petersburg clinic is minutes from downtown and an easy drive from Tampa across the Howard Frankland, from the beaches along Gulf Boulevard, and from mid-county communities in Largo, Seminole, and Pinellas Park. Assessment and treatment often happen in the same visit, so a single trip gets you started.
